💪Finkel's Fast Five 107 - February 14th, 2020

FINKEL'S FAST FIVE - ISSUE #107 - February 14th, 2020  Welcome to this week's FF5. Thanks for reading and subscribing! - Jon

ONE

BASKETBALL - This weekend will mark the 20th anniversary of the 2000 NBA Dunk Contest, AKA, the Rise of Vinsanity, when Vince Carter blew the basketball universe's collective minds.  It doesn't matter whether you're an "arm all the way through the rim" person or an "opposite spinning 360" dunk kind of guy, what Carter did in 2000 was a seminal moment for the art of dunking in particular and hoops in general. Jason Buckland at ESPN put together an awesome Oral History of the night, including insight from all the dunkers, Iverson, Shaq, Dirk and a ton of other stars. Really fun read right here.

TWO

FITNESS - While we're on the subject of dunking, you should definitely be working a jump rope into your exercise routine as much as possible. Yeah, you'll increase your vertical, but nothing burns calories faster than an intense rope session.  My guys over at JumpRopeDudes.com have all kinds of workouts you can try, but I've been doing this 20 minute HIIT burner once every few weeks and it is no joke. The air squats and push-ups in between the jump sets are brutal. Enjoy!

THREE

MOVIES - Are you a fan of Tommy Boy? How about Wayne's World? Or what about Coneheads? Are you noticing a pattern? These are all Lorne Michaels' produced movies... And there's another pattern you probably never noticed.  Writer Mike McGranaghan shared the following info from Chris Kattan's biography: Lorne Michaels had a rule that the posters for any movie he produced had to have the main characters in front of a blue sky with clouds. And incredibly, it's true. Really. Check them out here.

FOUR

COMEDY - We don't know where and we don't know how, but my son got his hands on a whoopee cushion this week and...let's just say we've had a lot of fake fart sounds around the house.  His number one goal, like any other kid who has ever had his very own whoopee cushion, is to get someone to unknowingly sit on it. But my boy being the super arch-prankster that he is, tried to step his game up, but forgot one crucial step in the process. Gotta admire his creativity here though.
