💪Finkel's Fast Five 135 - August 28, 2020

Welcome to Finkel's Fast Five #135. Thanks for reading and subscribing! ONE  MEAT - You know that Ernest Hemingway was a literary genius, a hunter, a veteran, a man of action and a mojito, martini and whiskey drinking machine. But did you know...  ...that Hemingway developed his own incredible hamburger recipe with over a dozen unique ingredients? It's called Papa's Favorite Hamburger and you can see it on its originally-typed paper here courtesy of the Art of Manliness. It looks amazing. A writer for AoM tried it and confirms it. I will personally be making it this weekend to find out. I'll report back.

TWO

COURAGE - The Ocean's Seven is a collection of seven open water ocean marathon swims around the world that are relentlessly impossible. They're chosen for their cold water, difficult currents, brutal tides, jellyfish, sharks and anything to make the swim more intimidating. Kim Chambers is one of only six people to have completed all seven.  In the documentary, Kim Swims, filmmakers follow Chamberlain as she prepares for her toughest swim yet: to become the first woman to complete a solo swim from the Farallon Islands to the Golden Gate Bridge – a 30-mile stretch of water known for frigid temperatures, swirling currents and the world’s largest Great White sharks. I thoroughly enjoyed this doc and I don't think you have to be a swimmer to do so. It's a little slow in the beginning, but once it gets closer and closer to her final swim, and you see what she has to go through, it's worth it.

THREE

ENTERTAINMENT - Some people, for whatever reason, are just extremely likeable. Actor Paul Rudd is one of those people. He's self-deprecating and funny.  He appeared on Kyle Brandt's 10 Questions show this week and talked about every single thing you'd want him to: Marvel stuff, Anchorman stories, his lack of aging, stories about Neil Diamond...anything and everything really. It was just an easy good time, if you're looking for a little break .

FOUR

BOOKS - I recommend a lot of books in the FF5 but over the course of 130+ of these and countless other e-mails and Tweets there's no real way to search if you're looking for a good recommendation in any category.   One project I've decided to tackle moving forward is to compile lists of my top 50ish books in the categories I read most. Sports, history, non-fiction, memoir, etc... I started this week by putting together a short e-book titled "Finkels' 46 Favorite Sports Books". It is, just as it says, a list of my 46 favorite sports books in one clean PDF, including book covers, intros and a breakdown by sports. Totally free and you can get it right here. BY THE WAY: All Finkel's Fast Five Platinum Members received this e-book earlier in the week as a sneak-preview surprise. How do you become a platinum member, you ask? Easy. You just have to open a high percentage of FF5s according to the super secret algorithm and you're in. So, you know... Open them all just to be safe!
