💪Finkel's Fast Five 142 - October 16th, 2020

Welcome to Finkel's Fast Five #142. Thanks for reading and subscribing!  ONE  STRENGTH - My boy and I watch a lot of National Geographic documentaries and we're in a Big Cat phase. Lions, tigers, panthers, you name it. A recent doc was talking about how strong lions are and I remembered a video were three WWE wrestling played tug of war with a lion cub...and lost.  I found the video here and it's pretty awesome. These dudes don't stand a chance. Of course, when my son asked how the lion is stronger, I mumbled "physics or something" but he kept asking 'why', and so I found this fascinating article on Wired Magazine, written about the WWE vs Lion tug of war, and it explains exactly why the lion wins. It's not physics; it's friction, dummy. Anyway, I found this fascinating.

TWO

SWEETS - How you feel about licorice will determine what you think about this entry. Most people fall into one of these categories: hate licorice... or love red licorice/hate black licorice... or love black licorice/hate red licorice... few people love both, but if you do, good for you.  I personally fall into the "love black licorice but don't care for red licorice" camp. If you're in this category, I recently found the absolute best licorice I've ever had. It's called Long Ball Licorice. It's officially sponsored by Babe Ruth (his heirs) and comes in a cool 30s-style pouch and it's just all around nostalgic and cool. I haven't had the red flavor, but if that's your style, I'd imagine it's amazing. The site is fun, too. Old timey music and all.

THREE

MUSIC - I think my favorite person online right now is 10-year-old musical prodigy Nandi Bushell. Her skills. Her positive attitude. Her sheer joy at being an unquestionable genius, basking in her gifts, is phenomenal.  She has recently been doing an online music-playing challenge with Dave Grohl and it's spectacular. Truly. Watch her for five seconds and she'll put a smile on your face. Enjoy!

FOUR

HOOPS - You remember Iverson for the crossovers and the drives in the lane and the fadeaways and the turnaround jumpers and smooth release...but you probably forgot that in college, Iverson could flat out leap.  I'm deep into research for a new book (yes, that's a tease) that will be out Father's Day of next year, and one chapter is on AI, so I'm enjoying the hell out of myself in the midst of a Georgetown-era Iverson YouTube wormhole. My favorite compilation video is actually from the NCAA and it's a four-minute highlight reel of his feats from the '96 tourney. The dunk at the three minute mark is insane.
