I ALMOST shared our most recent version today, because it’s so close, but I wanted to wait until we’ve got the final cover because it’s going to blow your mind and there’s an 80% chance you’ll print up a larger version and hang it in your garage (I mean, that’s what I’m going to do).
We’ve spent months poring over incredible photos of black bears in the wild that might be the perfect inspiration to be a book cover co-star with our hero, Brick Bridger (you’re going to love this dude).
The black bear in the book isn’t the largest on record, which, in the United States, is this guy. A giant, 880-pound, 7’3” monster caught roaming North Carolina in 1998.
The largest black bear EVER recorded was 902 pounds in New Brunswick, Canada in 1972.
Our bear, though, the one who stars in Bear Brawl, isn’t a lumbering behemoth. He’s an athlete. A perfect specimen built for speed and power who’s been at the top of the food chain throughout Arkansas for decades. He weighs over a half-ton, is nearly seven-feet tall and can run faster than 35-miles-per hour. He can lift and flip five hundred pound logs with one paw. He can topple thousand pound deadfall with a shove. He’s a titan.
